Episodes

Stories on Mythrill consist of seasons, short, periodically released  chapters called episodes.

This allows authors to keep their audience longing for more, monetize their stories while writing, and get continuous feedback from readers. The first few episodes are incredibly important. They will determine whether readers keep reading your story or not.

  • Episodes must be 1000-1500 words
  • Edited and proofread for grammatical and punctuation errors
  • They should end in an exciting way

Consistency is key in serialized storytelling monetization. The readers should expect a minimum 2 episodes a week to be released on the platform. You can either submit them in bulk or arrange a schedule with your Authors Success Manager.

Pro Tip: Utilize cliffhangers every ~ 3 episodes

What type of stories does Mythrill accept?

Mythrill is focused on serialized science fiction, fantasy and other similar sub-genres.

All stories consist of seasons and episodes.
A solid, entertaining plot with exciting developments and cliffhangers
A narrative that will have readers come back episode after episode
A complex and polished fictional world
Strong character development
All stories must be in English

Please note that we do not accept romance oriented or erotic content.

Of course, your story can have romantic elements, characters falling in and out of love, but it shouldn’t be the axis of your story.

What is serialized storytelling?

Stories on Mythrill have seasons which consist of periodically released episodes.
Each season must have a minimum of 10 episodes.

Episodes must be 750-1500 words

Edited and proofread for grammatical and punctuation errors

End in an exciting way with cliffhangers

Please note that the first few episodes are incredibly important in serialized storytelling.

They will determine whether readers stick with your story or not.

How many words should each episode have?

We've found the most optimal word count to be 750-1500 words.

Can I apply if I don't have a finished story?

Yes! Of course you can. You don’t have to have a finished story to submit your idea. You can publish your story on our platform with as little as 10-20 episodes.

I have a finished novel. Can I break it into episodes to release on Myhtrill?

While it is possible to release stories in this way, it’s prefered not to do so. Serialized stories assume things like often cliffhangers, less descriptions and more action, which isn’t always the case for a standard novel.

Can I release existing work on Mythrill or should I write something new?

We usually accept existing stories only if you either remove your story from other online platforms or continue it exclusively on Mythrill.

We give a preference to stories written originally for Mythrill..

Please note that it’s beneficial for both parties to start something new so we can work together to utilize Lore Cards to the advantage of your story.

How do you decide who can join?

We are focused on high-quality content. We evaluate the stories based on a number of things  like potential for serialization, worldbuilding elements, your traction on other online publishing platforms as well as the drafts you submit for the pitch.

The writing needs to be polished and clear, with a solid entertaining plot with exciting developments and cliffhangers. Your story must have a narrative that will have readers come back episode after episode, a focus on dialogue, a complex fictional world, strong character development.

We also take a look at the beginning of the story, the hook, and what's the first impression of the audience in the first few episodes.

Please note that the first few episodes are going to be free for readers to decide if they are going to stick with it or not.
