Mythrill Author Spotlight is now on our original story author Annie Mars — the author of The Kahzer Chronicles.
Tell us about your writing? What is your process?
I wish that I could say that I sit down and plan out every moment, but the truth is, I just write. Whether it's at my computer or on my phone (writing and walking, particularly for action scenes is something I seem to like these days...). I don't necessarily know where I'm going and this can probably lead to gaping plot holes, but that why I like to write far enough in advance that I can go back an edit earlier chapters with my newfound ideas or wisdom!
Who would you say are your influences in writing?
Anything can, from a great book that I've just read to a news article or a silly meme while surfing the web (I really need to write something about a café with a little baby dragon that flames your crème brule or other desserts!). Or at most times, a daft idea that pops into my head and won't go away.
Did you have previous experience with Serialized Fiction before you partnered up with Mythrill or did you have to adapt to the format?
I had tried out a few serialised fiction apps, but never stuck with anything. The story genres didn't appeal to me, but the ad for Mythrill was appealing.
I've had to do a lot of adapting to the format. My chapters are usually longer than the format allows for, but its been a fun challenge.
What has been the experience like seeing your characters come alive in Lore Cards?
Absolutely amazing! The first lore card I got was Lord Eli, one of the Prophet's of Kahzer and seeing him like that was amazing. Then there came the design for the ship, the KRGSN Magnilda and I knew I'd done right picking Mythrill. With each successive lore card, everything just got better. I can't wait to work with the team to design more!
You got 2 sentences to hook a reader into your story. Go!
Princess Schuyler of Kahzer tries to save her people by any means possible, no matter how long it takes. She and her crew will take on the Galaxy.
Finally, tell us why you partnered up with Mythrill? What made you go for it?
I saw an ad and I was trying to be braver with my writing, getting it out there more and with some other projects, attempting to get published. I took a chance, not expecting anything and when I received thar acceptance everything changed!
